2002 HUMMER H1 Model Year changes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||
The most visible changes for the '02 H1 included new L.E.D. marker lights and new 17" 2-piece Aluminum wheels. The L.E.D. marker lights prove to be more durable than the previous lights. The 2-piece Aluminum wheels offer the ability to lock both beads of the tire where the previous 1-piece aluminum wheels with beadlock only locked one bead. This gives the functionality of the 2-piece steel wheel while maintaining the light weight and desirable aesthetics of the aluminum wheel. In addition to the new wheels, newly available Goodyear MTR tires offer increased sidewall strength when compared to the previously available MT. With the new 17" 2-piece wheel and MTR tire combo now available, the 16.5" wheel and tire combination are no longer offered as factory options. Along with the MTR tires, off-road performance was further enhanced in '02 with higher biasing Torsen differentials. The improved differentials offer better traction and less wheel slip while still working with the H1s TT4 traction control system first introduced in '99. Long time Hummer owners will view the HUMMER specific ignition key as a welcome addition after 10 years of Ford key blanks (the H1 uses a Ford steering column). To celebrate 10 years of civilian Hummer production (and to clear out the last of the Tan interior pieces) 65 Desert Sunset "Tenth Anniversary Editions" were produced. Each came with a numbered badge on the engine cover, and were the last of the Tan interior H1s. Tenth Anniversary Number 1 also featured AMG employee signatures on the underside of the hood. Lynch Hummer was given the honor of receiving Anniversary model #1 by virtue of our #1 standing in customer satisfaction in the nation. With the introduction of the H2 in 2002 (2003 model year), the original Hummer now carries H1 badges for the first time. |
